Benjamin received a Bachelors Degree from the University of Michigan in Political Science and East Asian History, where he conducted independent research in Political Psychology. He also served as a research assistant for a biomedical research project on schizophrenics funded by the National Institute of Mental Health at the Veterans Affairs hospital in Ann Arbor, MI. In 2007 Benjamin co-founded a microfinance organization with a portfolio of over 20 entrepreneurs in Sub-Saharan Africa and now serves on the Board. He has published two papers in international relations journals.
