Matthew Peoria currently works at MPRI, where he initially supported the Army in Kuwait as an intelligence trainer, helping to train the US 3rd Infantry Division for Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). He now serves as a Senior Military Analyst (Intelligence and Security) in support of the Department of the Army in Arlington, VA. Major Peoria serves as the State Intelligence Officer for the Maryland Army National Guard. Mr. Peoria is pursuing his Masters of Science degree in Counter-terrorism, through the RIT/CADS Professional Studies MS Program. His research involves out-of-the box innovations to leverage actionable intelligence and concepts to improve intelligence support to Force Protection efforts.
Matt Peoria holds a BS in Geography (Cartography, Remote Sensing, and GIS) with a minor in National Security Affairs from Pennsylvania State University. He started his military career as a Distinguished Military Graduate of Army ROTC and was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Army's Military Intelligence Corps in 1992. Over the next eight years, he served on active duty in numerous troop leadership and staff positions from platoon to the division staff level. He has trained at the Army's three combat readiness centers while stationed in various stateside and overseas assignments. He deployed in support of operations in Haiti and Bosnia prior to leaving active duty. As an Army contractor, Mr. Peoria elected to work in Kosovo as an intelligence planner and senior intelligence analyst in support of the US Task Force to KFOR.
