Senior Fellow Cyrus Hodes reports on Afghanistan at Paris Reception

PARIS, FRANCE, 29 October 2007 – The Center for Advanced Defense Studies Senior Fellow Cyrus Hodes delivered a brilliant speech focusing in on the importance of understanding Afghanistan and its significance in recognizing and comprehending other global and regional problems.

Mr. Hodes' expertise on Afghanistan results from a series of studies and missions since 1998, when he was in charge of the French emergency NGO Solidarités and its Kabul programs. Since November 2001, he has served as a consultant for the private sector (focusing on building a secured population registry), the United Nations Assistance Mission for Afghanistan (during the Emergency Loya Jirga in 2002), the French Ministry of Defense (studies for the Doctrine and Higher Military Training Command, and for the Delegation for Strategic Affairs) and the European Union (European Union Electoral Observation Mission) during the 2005 Afghan parliamentary elections.

He is a member of the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) in London and an Associate Researcher with the Choiseul Institute and with the Thomas More Institute.
