The Center’s Studies and Analysis program focuses on regional conflict drivers and cultural systems, linking qualitative and quantitative approaches with original language research and local subject matter expertise. Our combination of on-the-ground access in conflict zones, academic grounding, and national security experience allows us to collect unique data, extract relevant information, and produce meaningful knowledge. We utilize multi-modal Dynamic Network Analysis and GIS software to model our data, allowing analysts to discover non-obvious relationships across multiple spheres of licit and illicit activity. We recognize that humans are multidimensional, and human networks have “fuzzy” boundaries, therefore we do not bound our analysis by jurisdiction or type of activity. Our current regions of focus:
