In addition to our analyses of regional and cultural conflict drivers, the Center maintains an active program of research into the use of emerging technologies to understand and mitigate conflict arising from clashes in perception. Our current work integrates natural language processing, computational linguistics, and cognitive studies to detect and interpret the use of metaphors across cultures and languages.
Autonomous Dynamic Analysis of Metaphor and Analogy
The ADAMA project is developing automated techniques to identify and analyze the meanings of metaphors in multiple languages, to better understand the similarities and differences of different cultures’ ways of thinking.
