Richard Weitz, PhD
Fellow
The Associate Director and a Senior Fellow of the Center for Future Security Strategies at Hudson Institute, Dr. Richard Weitz analyzes mid- and long-term national and international political-military issues. He is currently conducting research in the areas of defense reform, counterterrorism and US Eurasia policies.
As a Senior Staff Member of the Institute for Foreign Policy Analysis (IFPA) from 2003 to 2005, Dr. Weitz analyzed homeland security policies and evaluated deterrence methods to prevent rogue states and non-state actors from using weapons of mass destruction. From 2002 to 2004, Dr. Weitz was a consultant for the Center for Strategic and International Studies, DFI International, Inc. and the Defense Science Board. He previously held positions with the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs (BCSIA) at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government, the Center for Strategic Studies and the US Department of Defense.
Dr. Weitz has contributed extensively to such journals as The National Interest, The Washington Quarterly, Studies in Conflict and Terrorism and The Journal of Strategic Studies. His commentaries have been published widely in internet publications and in the Wall Street Journal. He has also presented at numerous conferences and has been interviewed by broadcast media, including ABC News, Al-Hurra and Pacifica Radio.
